Why We Built InspectSync

We spent years inside fire protection companies — building quoting and operations systems for companies like Convergint, Summit, and Pye Barker since 2014 — and we kept watching the same thing break. Not the inspections. The inspections were fine. It was everything around them: the quote in one system, the schedule in another, the invoice re-keyed a third time, and a business running on tools that couldn't see each other.

The software built for this industry hasn't kept up. Most of it is rigid where the work is fluid, slow to change when your business can't wait, and priced for a market that's had no better option. Too much of it is run by people who've never dispatched a truck, chased a deficiency, or waited on an invoice that finished work never generated. You've adapted to those tools for years. It should have been the other way around.

So we built the platform we always wished those companies had — pairing operators who've actually run this work with a development approach that lets a lean team move fast. We use AI as a force multiplier, not a gimmick: it's how we ship features in weeks instead of quarters, keep the price honest, and respond when a customer says "this doesn't fit how we run." Co-Founder

McCain is an experienced fire protection industry professional and business owner with over a decade of hands-on expertise in backflow testing, fire systems, and field operations. He has built a reputation for reliability, innovation, and customer-first service, combining practical experience with a strong foundation in business leadership. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Business Administration, he brings both strategic insight and real-world knowledge to his work.

His leadership philosophy is simple but powerful: treat customers like family. That mindset has shaped the culture of every organization he has been part of, strengthened long-term client relationships, and reinforced a commitment to trust, accountability, and service excellence.

McCain is passionate about supporting and collaborating with other fire protection companies, equipment manufacturers, and industry professionals to improve workflow efficiency, streamline field operations, and advance safety practices. His work is driven by a belief that stronger partnerships lead to better outcomes across the industry.

Under his leadership, InspectSync is positioned to grow as a forward-thinking, relationship-driven company dedicated to supporting fire protection professionals in protecting people, property, and the communities they serve.

Joey Cutchins

Co-Founder

Joey has spent over a decade building software inside the fire protection and life safety industry. In 2014, Convergint Technologies engaged Joey and his team to design and build a global estimating platform. Within two years of launch, it was in daily use by more than 1,200 estimators across multiple tax jurisdictions, currencies, and languages — the kind of scale and operational complexity that shaped how Joey builds software for this industry today.

After that engagement transitioned in-house, fire protection companies began reaching out with similar challenges. Recognizing a consistent gap in estimating and operational efficiency across the industry, Joey founded TOPQuote — a SaaS estimating platform purpose-built for fire protection. Since its launch, TOPQuote has supported industry leaders including Summit Fire & Security, Summit Fire & Protection, Pye Barker, and numerous regional and local providers.

InspectSync is the culmination of more than a decade of listening to operators, controllers, estimators, and service managers across the fire protection industry — built to unify inspections, quoting, and operations into one modern system designed specifically for how fire protection companies actually work.

Kevin Burney

Head of Go-To-Market

Kevin brings a career built inside business software sales and partnerships — with experience at Microsoft, DocuSign, and Workday, plus sales leadership at Tradeshift and OB10. He holds a degree in Finance from Marian University.

Most recently, Kevin served as Director of Partnerships and Strategic Accounts at a competing fire protection inspection platform, where he saw the industry’s software problems from the inside.

His own take, sharpened across thousands of conversations and enduring relationships: the demo is never the problem — the disappointment always shows up later. As he likes to say, “It’s like having a box of clothes, a box of toiletries, and a box of shoes — everything is there, but nothing flows together.” That’s not a missing feature. It’s missing architecture.

His heartfelt philosophy is to treat each customer as if they are the only customer, and to earn the customer’s business every month instead of locking them into a long-term contract.

That perspective is exactly why Kevin joined InspectSync’s founding team. As Head of Go-To-Market, he’s focused on making sure the platform’s value — one connected system instead of a pile of point solutions — reaches the fire protection companies who’ve felt that same gap firsthand.
