Why We Built InspectSync

We didn't set out to build another software tool. We set out to fix a problem we lived every day.

Between us, we've spent years inside fire protection operations — managing techs in the field, chasing down paperwork, toggling between disconnected tools for scheduling, inspections, billing, and customer communication. We've watched companies outgrow their software, overpay for bloated platforms that weren't built for them, and lose hours every week to manual processes that should have been automated years ago.

The legacy platforms want six-figure contracts and months of onboarding. The simple tools can't handle the complexity of a growing inspection business. And the generic field service software was never designed for how fire protection companies actually work. There was nothing in between — so we built it.

InspectSync is the culmination of more than a decade of listening to operators, controllers, estimators, and service managers across the fire protection industry. It's the platform we would have bought — if anyone had built it.

McCain Ballard

Co-Founder

McCain is an experienced fire protection industry professional and business owner with over a decade of hands-on expertise in backflow testing, fire systems, and field operations. He has built a reputation for reliability, innovation, and customer-first service, combining practical experience with a strong foundation in business leadership. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Business Administration, he brings both strategic insight and real-world knowledge to his work.

His leadership philosophy is simple but powerful: treat customers like family. That mindset has shaped the culture of every organization he has been part of, strengthened long-term client relationships, and reinforced a commitment to trust, accountability, and service excellence.

McCain is passionate about supporting and collaborating with other fire protection companies, equipment manufacturers, and industry professionals to improve workflow efficiency, streamline field operations, and advance safety practices. His work is driven by a belief that stronger partnerships lead to better outcomes across the industry.

Under his leadership, InspectSync is positioned to grow as a forward-thinking, relationship-driven company dedicated to supporting fire protection professionals in protecting people, property, and the communities they serve.

Joey Cutchins

Co-Founder

Joey has spent over a decade building software inside the fire protection and life safety industry. In 2014, Convergint Technologies engaged Joey and his team to design and build a global estimating platform. Within two years of launch, the system supported more than 1,200 users across multiple tax jurisdictions, currencies, and languages, helping scale quoting operations during a period of rapid company growth from $680M to $1.2B in revenue.

After that engagement transitioned in-house, fire protection companies began reaching out with similar challenges. Recognizing a consistent gap in estimating and operational efficiency across the industry, Joey founded TOPQuote — a SaaS estimating platform purpose-built for fire protection. Since its launch, TOPQuote has supported industry leaders including Summit Fire & Security, Summit Fire & Protection, Pye Barker, and numerous regional and local providers.
